Today's lessong will be about a very popular card, Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror. I will go over decks it is good to use against, and commonly mistaken rulings. This card is a power house card that reads: (Negate all DARK monster effects activated on the field or in the Graveyard.). Now, lets hop right on into the article.
Shaodw-Imprisoning Mirror is obviously good against and dark deck. Examples include but are not limited to, Dark Worlds, Inzektors, Any dark archtype. This card causes all effects that activate on the field and graveyard to be negated. This is a basic effect in which can easily shut down dark decks. This is important as there are a few dark decks that are Top Teir currently and this is a good side deck card.
Onto mistaken rulings. Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror vs. Most Malefic Monsters. Some people believe Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror acts as a skill drain for decks, but that is not true. Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror only negates the activation. Most Malefic monsters read (If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card.). This is a continous effect which Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror does not negate. Due to this, most Malefice monsters would be destroyed unless skill drain, or a field spell is face up.
Another Mistake which I get annoyed about is Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror vs. Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World. While his effect would be negated when discarded, never mistaken it is his other part that confuses people. Grapha has a summoning condition in which you return a Dark World monster you control from your field to your hand to special summon him from your Graveyard. THIS IS A SUMMONING CONDITION! Due to this even if Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror is face up on the field, Grapha may be special summoned.
Overall, this lesson was short as it was more or less just reviewing a card. I honestly must say I like Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror and hope that you guys use it in your side deck. Thank you and please post replies below for questions, comments, and concerns. Peace.
